I Am Not A Serial Killer by Dan Wells

3.5 out of 5 Stars!

Fear is about things that you can't control. The future or the dark, or someone trying to kill you. You don't get scared of yourself because you always know what you're going to do.

So I needed a break from all the New Adult books and what better way to do that then by reading I Am Not A Serial Killer. As soon as I read what this book was about it had me interested and I couldn't wait to get a look inside the mind of John Wayne Cleaver. What a twisted and fascinating mind John had. This book had me from the start and I can't even put into words what I was thinking and feeling while reading this. I know quite a bit about serial killers so the interesting little bits of information that were thrown into the book kinda felt like home to me. I normally like a bit of paranormal reading but I don't know I think this story would have worked a lot better without the whole demonic monster thing.

John Wayne Cleaver is not your normal 15 year old. He is a mortician and he has also been clinically diagnosed with sociopathy. John has an interesting hobby, he lives and breathes death, he is fascinated by it and is doing everything he can to stop himself from becoming a serial killer. Then a murdered body is found behind the laundromat with it's innards ripped out and chucked to the side. This murder is only the beginning of a killing spree where many people are killed and not all are found. John witnesses one of the murders first hand and what he discovers shocks him. With all the murders going on John is also finding it more and more difficult to keep to the rules that he has set in place to stop himself from becoming what he fears is destined. John has all the knowledge and attributes to be a terrifying and formidable serial killer, the big question being is that what he will become.

Wait For You by J Lynn

3.5 out of 5 Stars!

My brain was telling me this was a bad idea and I told my brain to shut the fuck up, because it rarely told me anything helpful.

J Lynn/Jennifer L Armentrout is one of those author's where I must have the book as soon as it is released. Her writing is incredible and she is the master of creating very likable and amazingly hot characters. From the very first few pages J Lynn once again sucks you in and makes it so that you don't want to put the book down. In no time at all I found myself playing the good old one more chapter game, I just couldn't get enough of this book and the characters. It's so great when the heroine has some great sidekicks and Jacob and Brittany were definitely great sidekicks. Although this book wasn't at the "Lux Series" level of awesomeness it was still a fantastic book that kept you interested until the very end.

Five years ago something happened that changed Avery Morgansten's life dramatically. She has moved thousands of miles away to a college where she can get a fresh start at life and move on from the demons of her past. Someone doesn't want her to move on though and she is continuously getting hurtful and threatening messages and emails. Her first day at college she runs head on into the hottest guy she has ever seen and to make matters more embarrassing she then runs away from him at full speed. Avery needs to get a grip and stop letting her past frighten her but that is easier said then done especially with those message's constantly coming through.

Luckily she finds some great friends in Jacob and Brittany and then there is Cameron Hamilton. Cam is that oh so hot, big bad boy that we all know and love and want for ourselves. Cam is very interested in getting to know Avery better and although she is not immune to his incredible hotness she can't bring herself to trust someone like him. Cam reminds her way too much of someone from her past and before she can truly give Cam a go she will need to learn to deal with what happened five years ago. This is ok for Cam though because he knows what he wants and he isn't giving up without a fight, he has all the time in the world to wait for Avery.

Never Too Far by Abbi Glines

3 out of 5 Stars!

If you try to go anywhere I will chase you down. I will become your shadow.

Ok so where should we start with this. My reaction before reading this was me dancing around the lounge room doing my happy, happy dance. My reaction after reading this was shocked, disappointed and just a general meh feeling. This is an Abbi Glines book so of course it was great but there were some major problems with this one. The first being that I nearly broke my tablet a couple of times, thankfully I settled for slamming it on the lounge and walking away time and time again. Blaire was annoying as all hell and I was continuously rolling my eyes while also getting ready to throw punches. This book was saved by Woods and Grant and I would love to read a book about either of those two.

Blaire is still trying to piece together her shattered heart after she found out the secret about her family and the fact that Rush knew all along. The worst is still to come though when Blaire finds out that she is pregnant with Rush's baby. Blaire doesn't know what to do when Bethy visits her asking her to come back to Rosemary and move in with her. Blaire resists at first but a late night misunderstanding see's Blaire back in Rosemary with Bethy and the next morning Bethy figures out that Blaire is pregnant. Blaire will stay with Bethy in Rosemary for now until she figures out what she is going to do next. The one thing she does know though is that she won't be going back to Sumit and she won't be staying in Rosemary permanently either.

Rush is also shattered, he would give anything to have Blaire back but know's that this isn't going to happen. There have been no parties since Blaire left, Rush isn't talking to his mum and he is barely tolerating Nan. The only person he has had around him is Grant and even he is starting to get a little annoying. Then he gets a text message from Bethy late one night and everything changes. Blaire is back in Rosemary and will be staying for a few months. Rush see's this as his big opportunity to win Blaire back and get her to stay in Rosemary with him forever.

One Week Girlfriend by Monica Murphy

5 out of 5 Stars!

Honestly, I don't quite know how we got to this point. I hated him on sight. I did this only for the money. I thought he was a fucked up mess. I still think he's a fucked up mess. But so am I.

I have to admit I had been undecided on this book for ages but when Amazon dropped the price to 99 cents I thought sure why not I may as well give it a go. This was a very short book and it surprised me, I wasn't expecting it to be so good. The characters were very likable and had this amazing realness to them and the story flowed nicely. It was very obvious from the start what Drew's big secret was but that didn't take away from the story at all. His struggle with dealing with his past and Fable dealing with her issues constantly had me in tears. I went into this not knowing who Monica Murphy was but I can guarantee I will now be keeping an eye out for her other books. Seriously, if you haven't read this yet it is so cheap on Amazon and definitely worth having a look at.

Fable hasn't had the easiest of lives, her mum is a drunk that likes to sleep around and her younger brother needing some authority in his life has started getting into trouble. Fable is trying to do the best that she can but definitely needs some help. Money is very scarce around their household and when hottie Drew Callahan comes to her needing a favour she tells hims where to go, until he mentions the $3,000 payment to be had. Drew can't believe the favour that he is asking Fable Maguire for but it needs to be done and he knew that the money would secure it. Drew is having to go home for thanksgiving for one week. His mum and sister died when he was younger and so now its just his dad and his stepmum who has been around since Drew was 2. Drew does not want to go home for the week, he definitely can't go back alone and that is why he has to take Fable. Something bad happened at that house and nobody can ever know and as long as Drew has Fable there for the week then he should be able to handle everything ok...... or not.

My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick

3 out of 5 Stars!

Why do all the hot girls want the jocks and the good boys? We losers are the ones that need you.

After finishing Take This Regret I needed a story that was going to be cute and fun and this book definitely fit in with that. After the first few chapters the Garrett family had me captivated and laughing. Where was a family like that when I was younger. Samantha and Jase were both very refreshing character's, I loved their attitude's and loved reading about them. I have to admit that some of the attitudes that other people showed towards Jase and his whole family were quite horrible but I guess that we just live in a world where many people are very judgmental. I will admit that the things that happened in the last 30% annoyed me quite a bit and I did find myself not enjoying the book as much as I had been but overall it was an enjoyable read.

From the moment the Garrett's moved in next door Samantha's mum didn't like them and she told Samantha to stay far away from them. She believed them to be a messy noisy bunch that would lower the house values in the neighborhood definitely not the kind of people that Samantha should be mixing with. The Garrett's are a large family, consisting of the parents and 8 children. It is a lot different to Samantha's house where she lives with just her mum and her older sister Tracy. It has been 10 years now that the Garrett's have lived next door and it has been 10 years that Samantha has secretly watched them, fascinated by the way that they live. One moment, one hot summer night changes everything and Samantha soon finds herself secretly spending more and more time with the Garrett's. She has to keep her relationship with Jase a secret from so many but with her spending so much time with him the secret is becoming harder and harder to keep.

Take This Regret by A.L. Jackson

4.5 out of 5 Stars!

Once again, I found myself on the edge looking down, wondering when I’d get so close that I’d fall. Or maybe I’d just jump.

I loved Christian and Elizabeth's story in Lost To You so I was very keen to see what the hell Christian did to go and screw it all up and oh boy did he screw up. If you have read Lost to You then you know all the drama those two went through just to be together and then he did that, the horror! The desperation in this story from both sides was heartbreaking. I was nearly having panic attacks from about 35% onwards because I know every book about 75-80% in the bad boy does something wrong and I didn't want either of them to go through any more drama. I didn't want to continue reading on but I couldn't put the book down. This was one of the most emotional stories I have ever read and the only reason it wasn't a solid 5 stars was because the story dragged on just a little bit too long.

Christian finally has his girl but the happiness and relationship comes to an end after 4 years when Elizabeth drops the pregnancy bombshell. Christian tells Elizabeth she has to choose the baby or him and Elizabeth chooses the baby. It isn't long before the guilt and disgust creeps into Christian but by the time he realises what a mistake he made it is too late. Five years later and Christian is still living with the regret and disgust of what he did to Elizabeth. He keeps waiting to hear from her but he never does. Christian has just moved to continue his career in law, he knows that this is where Elizabeth's family live and some part of him wants to see her again. Then he spots a young girl at the grocery store and he feels a connection, he feels like he knows her and he wonders is this his daughter.

Elizabeth has been doing fine the last 5 years. After a difficult pregnancy she has her little girl Lizzie and she has been able to provide her with a nice house. She works during the day at the bank to provide them with the money that they need and she always has Natalie and Matthew nearby when she needs someone. When Natalie tells her about a mysterious man at the shops that was chatting to Lizzie and then stalked them through the shops and car park, Elizabeth realises that it was Christian. If there is one thing that she is 100% certain about it is that Christian will not be getting anywhere near her or her little Lizzie.

Fallen Too Far by Abbi Glines

4 out of 5 Stars!

Everyone always said that love was enough. It wasn't. Not when your soul was shattered.

Oh how I enjoy reading Abbi Glines books, you know before even picking them up that the characters are going to be fantastic and that by the end of the book you would have fallen in love with them. Blaire and Rush were no exception. I loved Blair from the second she pulled that gun out and although I wanted to kick Rush in the balls a few times I did end out loving him. I also really liked Grant and normally I am all for the bad boy but in this case I have to admit I preferred Grant over Rush. That ending, my goodness! I stayed up late last night just because I had to see the book through til the end and when I finished it I couldn't sleep because I was still thinking about what happened.

Blaire is being forced to move to her dad's house after her mum lost her 3 year fight with cancer. Blaire can't stand her father but she doesn't have anywhere else to go and he is family so she has to make do. Blaire has only seen her father twice in over five years and when she get's to his house she discovers that him and her new stepmum have jetted off to Paris leaving Blaire to live with her new stepbrother Rush. Rush is not impressed that Blaire has just turned up but agrees that she can stay there, in the maid's room, in the pantry, under the stairs. Within a couple of days of living there Blaire see's Rush countless times wearing minimal clothing and also witnesses him with various women. Blaire has to admit that she is falling for Rush and Rush might just feel the same way. One small problem though, there is this huge secret between Rush and his sister Nan that everyone in the small rich community seems to know about, everyone but Blaire.

Vain by Fisher Amelie

5 out of 5 Stars!

No one can know sincere happiness, Sophie, without first having known sorrow. One can never appreciate the enormity and rareness of such a fiery bliss without seeing misery, however unfair that may be.

Oh hells bells, I don't even know where to begin with this book, I didn't want it to end. If you read the blurb you will go into this book expecting a story about a snotty queen bee but what you will get is a touching story of orphans in Uganda. The minute I found this book on Amazon I knew I had to get it and I knew it would be the next book on my to read list pushing it's way past 300+ other books. We often read about the soft, gentle, innocent girls and I needed a change from that. I did think that Sophie changed too early on in the book I wanted more of the spoilt bitchy queen Sophie but after reading the entire book my original complaint was completely forgotten. This book was so incredible and so emotional, my heart broke for those children and it really makes you want to do something to help other children in that position.

Sophie Price is that girl that all the guys love and all the girls hate. She get's away with anything and everything proving that for the rich and beautiful there are no limits. Sophie knows exactly how fabulous she is and she uses it to her advantage all the time, the world is a huge game to her and she is the queen. All queens have their faults though and Sophie's life is on the slide, her game which has always been flawless is now falling apart. First there is the cops busting her for drugs, then there is the embarrassing situation with her dad's potential partner's son. To avoid jail time Sophie is being forced to spend six months at an orphanage in Uganda. What Sophie see's there shocks her and to be honest shocked me as well. The big question now being will it change Sophie or once the six months are up will she come back the same spoilt bitch that she was when she left.

Return to Paradise by Simone Elkeles

4 out of 5 Stars!

Doing something positive will help turn your mood around. When you smile, your body relaxes. When you experience human touch and interaction, it eases tension in your body.

Simone Elkeles would have to be right up there as one of my favourite authors, her books never disappoint and always leave you wanting more. Leaving Paradise left me in tears and I was very eager to start Return to Paradise to see how Maggie and Caleb's story would finish. Once I started reading this I couldn't stop, everything that was happening was so powerful and frustrating. I lost count at how many times I wanted to slap Caleb my goodness what an infuriating bastard he was. I kinda wish there was a separate series for Leah and Julio, I would have loved to have read more about them.

It has been 8 months since Caleb left Paradise and the truth about the hit and run incident was revealed to Maggie. Caleb once again finds himself in trouble with the law and once again he hasn't actually done anything wrong. Caleb is thrown a lifeline when his old parole officer Damon comes in and helps him out. The only condition is that to avoid jail time Caleb will have to join the Re-Start group, a group for kids whose lives have been affected by reckless teen driving. Caleb not wanting to face any more time in jail takes Damon up on his offer but there was one thing he wasn't expecting, Maggie.

Maggie decided to join the Re-Start group after finding out that she would have a permanent limp for the rest of her life without any hope of a full recovery. The last person she expects to see standing there is Caleb. Maggie hasn't seen or heard from Caleb in over eight months and although she doesn't want to be anywhere near him there is no way that she is dropping out of this group. Maggie needs this group and figures it's only four months and then Caleb can walk out of her life again so it should all be a walk in the park. Then Caleb opens his mouth and Maggie realises that this is definitely not going to be easy.

Lost to You by A.L. Jackson

3.5 out of 5 Stars!

What I was opposed to was giving myself to someone like him. This man would own me with one passing touch, and I was certain that's exactly what it would be. Passing.

This was my first A.L Jackson book which is quite strange really considering that I have all of her books on my "to read" shelf and loaded up on my kindle ready to go. Lost To You was told in alternate points of view between Christian and Elizabeth and it worked really well. This was one of those books that had you smiling from the start and made you invest in the characters early on. I loved both of the characters and they both had a distinct voice. I can't wait to start on Take This Regret and I am scared to find out what Christian went and did to stuff it all up.

Christian wants Elizabeth and he wants her bad, she is everything that he has been looking for and everything that all the other girls haven't been. Elizabeth is beautiful and shy while also been sexy and knowing. She has Christian mesmerized and she also knows exactly what type of guy Christian is and that she should definitely keep their time together to studying and only studying. Months pass by and Christian and Elizabeth become best friends with the sexual tension always in the background but a line that is never crossed. Then Christian takes Elizabeth to a party one night and it is a night that changes everything.

Leaving Paradise by Simone Elkeles

4 out of 5 Stars!

Being afraid to take chances is scarier than actually doing things that challenge you.

Firstly, the tears my goodness were there tears. This was a very emotional book especially the last quarter. The beginning half of the story was very slow though and that was the major thing that stopped this from being a 5 star book. I was first introduced to Simone Elkeles when I discovered the Perfect Chemistry series and I loved the Fuentes brothers. Although I enjoyed Caleb and Maggie they didn't seem as dynamic as the characters/couples in the "Perfect Chemistry" series. I loved Mrs Reynolds and her philosophies, I thought she was a very interesting character who bought so much to the story. I can't wait for the second book and will now have to reorganise my planned reading for the week so that I can read the second book sooner.

Caleb is getting released from the juvenile detention centre after serving 310 days there for a drink driving hit and run incident. Caleb has served his time and now he wants to be free to start his life again. He isn't expecting things to be so different when he gets home though and he definitely isn't expecting Maggie's hate. Caleb just wants to move on and be given a chance but nobody is going to let him forget about what he did.

If there is one thing that Maggie is sure of it is that she hates Caleb and she will never ever forgive him for what he did to her. Caleb hit her with his car after a night of partying and drinking and because of him she has had to endure physical therapy and a mutated leg that even she is disgusted by. Maggie's parents have split, she has a deformed leg and she has no friends, it is a pretty miserable life for a teenager and that is before she finds out that Caleb is getting released from juvie six months early.

I Hunt Killers by Barry Lyga

5 out of 5 Stars!

You won't even know you've crossed the line until it's way back in your rearview mirror.

I was super keen to start this book. I really just can not put into words how much I have wanted to read this. I knew it was going to be a dark book and knew that there would probably be some detailed, horrific things in there. That is the one and only reason why I had held off on reading this. I wanted to make sure I would be in the right frame of mind to truly appreciate it. I wasn't however expecting the hilarious antics of Howie, my goodness how I love that guy and he just bought a wonderful helping of humour to the book. I also loved that within the first quarter of the book Locard's Exchange Principle was thrown in there. This book is quite descriptive and for a person who loves watching shows and reading books on forensics I enjoyed all the bits of information that was thrown in there. This book truly is a great look into what goes on in a killers mind. I could honestly go on forever about why this book is so fantastic but if this is your kind of thing don't hesitate just go buy the book now, you will love it.

Jasper Dent who is more commonly knows as Jazz has had a very messed up life. He is the son of Billy Dent one of the most notorious serial killers ever known to mankind. A man who's murder count was into triple figures when he was captured. A man who was nicknamed "Butcher Billy" for the horrific way that he murdered his victims. A man who committed the murders in front of his son and taught his son everything he knows from picking the correct victims, carrying out the murder and making sure that no trace of evidence is ever left behind. Jazz is probably more capable then any police officer because of his life surrounded by murders. Jazz continuously hears his fathers voice in his head, always reminding him of details from the past, reminding him that he is the son and he should be continuing on the work that his father left unfinished.

A body of an unknown female then turns up naked, murdered and missing a few fingers. Jazz wants in on the case, he believes that this is a serial killers work and that the knowledge he can bring to the case would be very valuable. What Jazz doesn't realise though is that the killer is following him and is intrigued by him because of who his dad is. The killer also has a plan for Jazz, a plan to bring out the murderer that hides within Jazz.

This Is Not A Test by Courtney Summers

3.5 out of 5 Stars

We eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner to the soundtrack of our own impending death.

ZOMBIES!!!!! I am a huge fan of Courtney Summers and when I saw that she had done a zombie book I got very excited. To say that I had high expectations would be an understatement. This book was nonstop action from the get go, the action, the killing and the blood was all there from the very first few pages. When you have a book like this where there is so much action going on you don't want to put it down for even a second afraid that something important is about to go down. My only complaint would be that the five other students locked in the school with Sloane didn't really have their own voices. Sometimes I found myself having to go back and read who was saying what because the five characters were just way too similar. Otherwise this was a great read. Once again, Courtney Summers has released a great book.

Sloane hasn't led a great life, she is a punching bag for her dad and her sister Lily escaped and got away from it all not too long ago leaving Sloane behind. Things have always been hard but with Lily gone it is much, much harder for Sloane. She debates often if life is even worth living and is thinking about that when the zombies arrive. Seven days later and she is holed up in the school with 5 other students, blocking the doors and working together to stay alive. Sloane still doesn't know if she even wants to be alive and finds it crazy that while she is still contemplating how great it would be to be dead those around her are doing everything they can to keep her, themselves and each other safe and alive. Tempers are starting to flare between the small group and rations are running low and then someone breaks through their barricades. Many die and only few will survive, the question is who dies and who lives.

Burn For Burn by Jenny Han & Siobhan Vivian

3 out of 5 Stars!

I'm sick of waiting for karma. Karma can suck it.

I have had this book on my wishlist for a very long time so I was super excited when I finally got it. I did enjoy it but I don't know I guess it didn't quite live up to my expectations. Some of the pranks that they came up with were very clever and I definitely wouldn't have thought of them. My favourite of the three girls was Kat but there were bits that I loved and hated about each of the girls. I didn't like the ending and for some silly reason hadn't realised that this was going to be a trilogy. Hard to say if I will pick up the next book in the series. I would love to see where they go next and what happens with Reeve but I dunno, i'm not 100% convinced.

Burn for Burn is the story of 3 different girls all after one thing, revenge. All three girls live on Jar Island a small island made up of 4 small towns and only one high school. The holiday's have just finished and it is time for the girls to start their senior year. Each of the girls has a secret though, something that has happened to each of them that has dramatically changed them. The three girls first meet in one of the school's bathrooms with two of them crying and the third girl trying to figure out what is wrong with them. Not long after that Kat brings the three girls together again and says that she believes the three of them should make a secret group and get back at the people who wronged them. They start off small and the pranks escalate from there in the end becoming quite dangerous.

Lillia has always had it all, the pretty popular best friend and a spot on the cheerleading squad. Her sister Nadia is set to become everything that Lillia is at the school but Lillia isn't so sure that she wants her sister to be just like her anymore. In fact she is thinking that she needs to do everything that she can to protect her sister from making the same mistakes that she has.

Kat has just turned 18 and although she presents herself as a hard ass she hasn't always been that way and she still has her moments. Kat thought that she had something going on with Alex but now she isn't so sure and it's made hard by the fact that Alex hangs out with Rennie. Rennie, Lillia and Kat used to all be best friends but now Kat and Rennie are the worst of enemies and Lillia and Kat never spoke after the group separated.

Mary was forced to leave the island all because of one boy but now she has come back to the island for her senior year. Her family isn't with her so she is staying with her Aunt Bette. The first day of school she spots Reeve and she goes into panic mode and to make matters worst Reeve doesn't even notice her. It's hard to get back at him when he doesn't even know that she exists or is back on Jar Island.

Career Day by Barry Lyga

3 out of 5 Stars!

Career Day is a free 17 page prequel to I Hunt Killers. I didn't even know that there was a prequel to I Hunt Killers so I am very happy that I found it before I started reading the main book. The very second Howie was bought into the story I just sat there grinning like a moron and thinking oh yeah here we go this is going to be awesome, can you say instalove! Getting back to the serious side though, this short prequel was fantastic it hooked me right in and when it ended I was left feeling lost. I need to read more of this and now.

Jasper has a rather depressing life, and a very disturbing one. Jasper was bought up learning how to kill people and how to clean crime scenes so that there is no evidence left behind. He now lives with his gramma who is losing the plot and is quite crazy. Jasper takes pretty good care of her though and wouldn't dare tell anyone that he looks after her more than she looks after him. His father the person who taught him all about killing is locked away in prison, one of the worst serial killer's in the world. That doesn't stop Jasper from hearing his dad's voice in his head though, he hears it all the time and it is urging him to kill and to take over where his dad left off. Luckily it isn't all doom and gloom for Jasper because he has a fantastic, crazy friend called Howie and this girl that he has just started casually dating, Connie.

Inbetween by Tara Fuller

2 out of 5 Stars!

Rule one as a reaper: Death doesn't wait for anyone.

Oh my goodness thank god I am done with that book. Whenever I see a book about reapers I automatically think of the "Soul Screamers" series by Rachel Vincent. I haven't read a great deal of reaper books besides that series so I always get excited when I come across one. Inbetween had me confused from the first page, like really confused but I slowly worked everything out and it all started to make sense. Inbetween is told in alternating point of views between Finn and Emma. This worked well enough and both characters had a distinct voice. The problem though is that this story just really didn't grip me at all. Finn annoyed me most of the time and Emma was just a so so character, in fact the whole book could be summarized as so so. I spent most of this book arguing with myself and the fact that I really should finish it, let's not DNF it just yet. I did finish it but I can safely say that nothing really happened to interest me which is a shame cos I had really been looking forward to this book.

Two years ago Finn saved Emma's life breaking all the rules and giving her another chance at living. Finn has made some mistakes and some enemies during the course of his career as a reaper and one enemy in particular Maeve is coming for Emma and won't stop until she gets her revenge. Finn is trying to juggle his career as a reaper and then protecting Emma from Maeve who is rapidly escalating in her torture techniques. It hasn't been easy for him and it is made harder by the fact that he can't touch Emma at all. The other reapers are getting tired of covering for him and his selfish attitude and his boss Balthazar is on to him and is punishing him. Finn keeps making mistakes when it comes to Emma and he is on his last warning, one more mess up and he will be sent to hell.

A couple of years ago Emma lost her dad in a car accident. She should have died as well but somehow she lived. Ever since the death of her Dad, Emma has had these dreams/nightmares that feel so real that they feel like memories. There has also been a lot of crazy stuff happening, stuff that has previously sent her crazy and straight to a mental institution. Her best friend Cash wants to help her but Emma is scared of telling anyone else the things that have been happening, they will just think she is crazy again.

Burned by Sara Shepard

3.5 out of 5 Stars!

Life isn’t worth living if you’re scared all the time.

Wow, I can't believe that I finally made it to the 12th book in this series and more importantly once I finish this one off I will be up to date with the series. That my friends means that I can continue watching the Pretty Little Liars TV show without confusing myself too much. Although I was surprised to see after all this time that the tv series actually isn't all that similar to the books, same characters and similar story lines but very different in a lot of ways. I have to admit going into this book I thought to myself can I really take much more of this, the same thing over and over again and well it turns out that I can. I loved how in this book there were quite a few characters who were close to those that the girls had wronged. The ending surprised me a little and I can't wait to see what the next book will hold. From the way that it ended I am assuming the series might be ending soon.... maybe... hopefully.

It's not enough that the girls murdered a girl in Jamaica but now they have also covered up a car accident. Hanna was in an accident with a drunk girl named Madison, it was Madison's car but Hanna was driving. Not wanting to take the blame for it she calls the other girls and they move Madison into the drivers seat and leave her there for the paramedics to find. When they moved Madison there was a snapping noise and they can't be sure if it came from the forest area or from Madison's body. The four girls are all getting ready for their school's vacation cruise which is being held in conjunction with other schools. The girls think this is a brilliant time to forget about whatever happened with Madison and the fact that they killed Tabitha. A of course has followed them onto the cruise and their holiday is going to be anything but relaxing.

Spencer is hoping that the cruise will bring her and Princeton's hottie hippy Reefer closer together. Spencer even has a perfect plan in place they will be spending time together while completing a diving course, very romantic. Emily finally told Isaac and her parents about baby Violet and how Emily gave her up for adoption, her parents in return aren't speaking to her at all. Emily has something to look forward to though, within the first few hours of boarding the ship Emily meet's a beautiful girl and we all know how quickly and deeply Emily falls for the pretty girls. Aria and Noel have once again put all their issues behind them and are ready to enjoy the cruise together in a 100% completely honest with each other relationship. Except Noel doesn't know about Aria's growing list of laws she has broken recently. Hanna and Mike are back together but nobody has forgotten about the "stalking" video that A sent out. Hanna is back to the bottom of the popularity list and she hates it but we all know that Hanna always finds a way to bounce back to the top.

The Dead Girls Dance by Rachel Caine

3.5 out of 5 Stars!

Boys. I'd turn gay if they weren't so sexy.

Any book that was going to follow Sempre had it's work cut out but I think that this book did ok. It was great to have the gang back even if it was a more broken gang then we are used to. I enjoyed the book and the story line and all the characters but there just seemed to be something missing this time. It didn't hold my attention as much as Glass Houses did. It did pick up about half way through though and the ending was pretty great. Can't wait to read the next one in the series.

This book picked up right where Glass Houses finished with Michael dead on the ground and Shane's dad declaring that he is there to take down all of the vampires. This is a major problem considering that the gang have only just been spared their lives provided that there is no more drama with the vamps. Shane's dad is determined though and when he isn't beating up his son he is making plans on just how he is going to rid Morganville of all their vampires. The gang is feeling rather defeated when an old friend comes back and lifts the mood a little. Shane's dad isn't their only problem, a vampire has been found dead and one of their own is being held responsible for it. The gang have two days before one of their own is due to be burned alive and they have no idea where to start.

Sempre by J.M. Darhower

5 out of 5 Stars!

Some things in life only happen once, the memories of them lasting forever. They're moments that alter you, turning you into a person you never thought you'd become, but someone you were always destined to be. There's no magical rewind button in life, no take backs or do-over's to fix things you wish you could change.

Every now and then you get that odd special book that is unlike anything you have ever read before. It grabs you hard and you feel every emotion while reading it from happiness to despair. This was one of those rare books and it is a book that everyone should know about. I admit I had delayed reading this book simply because the size of it scared the absolute crap out of me. The writing drew you in from the start and although I was a little confused at first it wasn't long before I caught on to what was happening. I had so many emotions and thoughts while reading this but it is so hard to put into words exactly what I felt. I loved the stories that we got of the mafia it was very interesting while also being very disturbing. The highlight of this book though was easily Carmine and Haven. It didn't matter if they were alone or together both of them just pulled you in to the point where you could read about them forever and not mind.

Ten years ago a little servant girl was killed in cold blood as she tried to escape. That girl was killed by Haven's master and the killing happened up close and right in front of Haven. From that day on Haven has always known her place in the world, she is a servant and her role in life is to simply do as she is told and take whatever punishment that may come her way. A day comes where Haven is told by her mum to leave and run, run far away. Haven doesn't get far though and when she wakes she meets Dr Vincent DeMarco who is taking her away to his house where she will cook and clean for him and his two sons, Dominic and Carmine. Although still a servant girl Haven is getting treated much better then she ever has but she knows not to trust it or to trust Dr DeMarco and his sons because things can change in an instant.

Carmine is the troubled son he has just come home from a year away at an all boys school and even if he isn't looking for trouble it will always find him. Carmine loves getting into fights and is a real ladies man, he is also everything his father doesn't want him to be. Carmine isn't sure why this strange girl is all of a sudden in his house and to begin with he really doesn't care. Haven intrigues him though and the more he talks to her in passing the more he believes that maybe just maybe she is one of the only people in the world who could truly understand him.

Past Perfect by Leila Sales

3 out of 5 Stars!

You can't have heartbreak without love

Past Perfect was a very cute and fun read and I have to say the whole Historical Colonial Village idea definitely had me interested. I felt a bond with Chelsea from the start I mean come on any girl who comes up with the idea to be an ice cream connoisseur is pretty great in my book. I loved all the pranks that the two reenactment villages were playing on each other and it often had me giggling. I liked all of the characters but wasn't really crazy about any of them. This book wasn't a knock your socks off read but it was enjoyable and was one of those books that you can just kick back and relax with.

For the majority of her life Chelsea has always had to spend her summer break working at the Essex Historical Colonial Village and this time she wants to work somewhere cooler. Her best friend Fiona has other ideas though and she thinks that the EHCV would be the perfect place for them to spend their summer break working. Chelsea eventually gives in and prepares for yet another summer at the EHCV. There is one plus side to working there and that is not having to see the boy who broke her heart, Ezra. Then at orientation Chelsea spots a face in the crowd that she knows all too well, Ezra and just like that her summer break has gone from bad to horrifying.

It's not all bad though that same night Chelsea is kidnapped by their rivals the Cival War Reenactmentland and while she is being held hostage she get's to meet Dan Malkin and there is a lot to like about Dan. The war between the two reenactment villages is stronger then previous years and this is no time to be flirting with the enemy especially if your the Lieutenant. Chelsea's summer is turning out to be a lot funner then she had imagined but how long can she really keep her and Dan a secret especially when the war becomes bloody and brutal.

Lengths by Steph Campbell & Liz Reinhardt

2.5 out of 5 Stars!

Life is too short to waste on bullshit.

I didn't even know that I had this book on my kindle but hey there it was right down near the bottom. The reviews on this one are very, very mixed and I can understand why. Whit pissed me off, not just a little but a lot. I liked that the story was told from the point of view of both Deo and Whit but I found it hard to identify or even really like either of the characters, something just seemed a little forced about them. I really don't want to do a review of complaints but I also thought the carefree attitude of both Deo's mum and Grandpa were very unrealistic. One of them being that way would have been fine but both being like it plus also Rocko being like it and it was a tad overkill. Besides all my complaints though it was a good enough read and it did keep me interested. It did pick up about half way through and became quite a good read but there always seemed to be that little something missing.

Deo has been given a fantastic birthday present from his mum, he gets to go and have a tattoo done, his choice. When Deo get's to the tattoo place he spots Whit and from the get go there is an attraction there. Whit has her secrets though and she doesn't like to let anyone get too close to her, hence the whole sex buddy relationship that she has going on with Ryan. Whit and Deo start hanging out together though and Deo can feel himself falling in love for the first time. Whit is holding back though and it is affecting their weird friendship/relationship in a very bad way.

Stunning by Sara Shepard

3.5 out of 5 Stars!

It's not fun to keep secrets, but sometimes you have to do it to protect yourself. And to protect people around you.

Not one of the best books in the series but a great addition to it anyway. So I made the mistake the other day of watching the first 5 episodes of the Pretty Little Liars and now I have confused myself a tiny bit with what is from the show and what is from the books. So that I don't confuse myself any further I figured that I have to knock the next 2 Pretty Little Liar books out and do it quickly cos the show was looking really good. I went into this book with high hopes of course and after the first few pages I was screaming. I mean seriously who the hell just drops a baby off at a house and runs o_O. Once I calmed myself down I read on and before long had fallen back into the world of our 4 Pretty Little Liar's and the mysterious and forever taunting A.

Hanna's dad's campaign is going really well and Kate is back to being nice to her again but something is missing, Mike. Hannah is missing Mike badly but Mike has moved on to a different girl and as much as Hanna tries her plans to win him back are failing. Aria and Noel finally had sex and their relationship is going really well post Klaudia drama. Aria is in the shops one day though and spots Noel's dad and what she see's is a massive secret that will destroy Noel and his family. Emily is trying to move on but isn't handling the fact that not only did she drop her baby off at someone's door but also went back on her word to the woman that she promised her baby too. Emily always thought that her baby would be nearby but she has just discovered that the family she gave her baby to have packed up and moved away and then she runs into Isaac the baby's father. Spencer is finally at Princeton and feels like she really belongs there but A is going to make sure that things don't go to plan for her either.
