This Is Not A Test by Courtney Summers

3.5 out of 5 Stars

We eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner to the soundtrack of our own impending death.

ZOMBIES!!!!! I am a huge fan of Courtney Summers and when I saw that she had done a zombie book I got very excited. To say that I had high expectations would be an understatement. This book was nonstop action from the get go, the action, the killing and the blood was all there from the very first few pages. When you have a book like this where there is so much action going on you don't want to put it down for even a second afraid that something important is about to go down. My only complaint would be that the five other students locked in the school with Sloane didn't really have their own voices. Sometimes I found myself having to go back and read who was saying what because the five characters were just way too similar. Otherwise this was a great read. Once again, Courtney Summers has released a great book.

Sloane hasn't led a great life, she is a punching bag for her dad and her sister Lily escaped and got away from it all not too long ago leaving Sloane behind. Things have always been hard but with Lily gone it is much, much harder for Sloane. She debates often if life is even worth living and is thinking about that when the zombies arrive. Seven days later and she is holed up in the school with 5 other students, blocking the doors and working together to stay alive. Sloane still doesn't know if she even wants to be alive and finds it crazy that while she is still contemplating how great it would be to be dead those around her are doing everything they can to keep her, themselves and each other safe and alive. Tempers are starting to flare between the small group and rations are running low and then someone breaks through their barricades. Many die and only few will survive, the question is who dies and who lives.
