Past Perfect by Leila Sales

3 out of 5 Stars!

You can't have heartbreak without love

Past Perfect was a very cute and fun read and I have to say the whole Historical Colonial Village idea definitely had me interested. I felt a bond with Chelsea from the start I mean come on any girl who comes up with the idea to be an ice cream connoisseur is pretty great in my book. I loved all the pranks that the two reenactment villages were playing on each other and it often had me giggling. I liked all of the characters but wasn't really crazy about any of them. This book wasn't a knock your socks off read but it was enjoyable and was one of those books that you can just kick back and relax with.

For the majority of her life Chelsea has always had to spend her summer break working at the Essex Historical Colonial Village and this time she wants to work somewhere cooler. Her best friend Fiona has other ideas though and she thinks that the EHCV would be the perfect place for them to spend their summer break working. Chelsea eventually gives in and prepares for yet another summer at the EHCV. There is one plus side to working there and that is not having to see the boy who broke her heart, Ezra. Then at orientation Chelsea spots a face in the crowd that she knows all too well, Ezra and just like that her summer break has gone from bad to horrifying.

It's not all bad though that same night Chelsea is kidnapped by their rivals the Cival War Reenactmentland and while she is being held hostage she get's to meet Dan Malkin and there is a lot to like about Dan. The war between the two reenactment villages is stronger then previous years and this is no time to be flirting with the enemy especially if your the Lieutenant. Chelsea's summer is turning out to be a lot funner then she had imagined but how long can she really keep her and Dan a secret especially when the war becomes bloody and brutal.
