Bite me, chilli boy. 

For someone who used to live off of vampire books I was shocked to realise that it has been ages since I have read one. I have been meaning to get to this series for ages now but was waiting until I got near the end of Pretty Little Liars before starting another long ass series. This book was fantastic and I really enjoyed it, sure I wanted to slap some sense into Claire every now and then but besides that it was really, really good. The other 3 main characters were very interesting and they had me from the start. The world that Rachel Caine has created is so bizarre and wonderful. There wasn't really anything that I didn't like about this book. The characters were great, the writing was great, the action was amazing and that ending, my goodness I am so glad I don't have to wait around for the next book.

Claire is going to college in Morganville, Texas and needless to say things aren't going too well for her. She has so far had all her clothes stolen from the washing machine and thrown into a rubbish chute, got into a slapping match which ended with her getting punched and pushed down the stairs plus all the usual teasing and shoves. It is when she gets threatened by mean girl Monica, source of all of Claire's misery when Claire really starts to feel scared for the first time. Monica means her serious harm and considering she pushed her down the stairs and didn't stop to check if she was alive, Claire isn't sure just how far Monica will go. Scared and all alone Claire decides to look for off campus housing. She thinks she has found the perfect place called Glass House, which has only 3 other occupants Michael, Shane and Eve but that idea is soon squashed by the owner Michael. Michael gives in though and says that Claire can stay their temporarily, a few days only and then she must leave he doesn't have underage girls in his house.

The temporary stay becomes more of a permanent stay and Claire is learning heaps about Morganville. Morganville is a strange place indeed filled with vampires, ghosts, power and a whole lot of creepiness. Against the advice of her new housemates Claire is still going to college and is still having to keep an eye on Monica and her underlings. Claire then makes another enemy, a vampire named Brandon and to make matters worst Monica and her family are under Brandon's protection and work very well together. Now that Claire has two enemies she needs a bodyguard and that lucky fella is Shane. Things keep going wrong though and to save Claire from further harassment and death attempts Shane puts himself on the line which then changes things for everyone.

Something Like Fate by Susane Colasanti

We can’t help who we love. Love isn’t logical, or even our choice. Love chooses us. 

To start with I am not a person who believes in fate or horoscopes, there's no particular reason, I just think it's a load of bolony. We all know this story quite well by now, we see it all the time two girls, the best of friends and both in love with the one guy, it never ends well. I liked Lani she was a very interesting character and I haven't read too many books where the main character is a real greenie. I had one issue with this book and that was the writing, it came off as very youngish and after a while was simply rather annoying, besides that though this really was a good book and I enjoyed it.

Erin and Lani are the best of friends and they are both in love with the same guy, Jason. Jason rightfully belongs to Erin but as much as she tries to Lani just can't stop thinking about Jason and how they should be together. It's a shocker really, Erin and Lani are complete opposites and their taste in guys is completely opposite as well so Lani has no idea how this has happened. It can't be denied though the more time Lani spends with Jason the more she falls for him and he isn't exactly hiding the fact that he likes her as well. They both confess their feelings to each other but it isn't taken any further because nobody wants to see Erin hurt. Erin is going away to camp though for two months and this means that Lani and Jason will be all alone for those two months and that's when things start to get serious.

Wherever Nina Lies by Lynn Weingarten

Iced coffee is my crack 

Early on in the book I was all where do I sign up to get me a Sean of my own. Don't get me wrong I love a dark, intense and brooding guy as much as the next girl but sometimes it is nice to take a break from that and have a sweet, cute and dorky guy as well. Then I got over halfway through and Sean, oh deary, why Sean. I love reading young adult mystery thriller books and although they are rarely 5 star books they are always exactly what I need, they are my comfort zone. This book fit into the above perfectly. I was a little angry with Amanda throughout the book. If I was Ellie's friend I wouldn't have given up on her and would never have stopped helping her in her search for her sister but that's probably just because I love a good mystery. I thought that the addition of the pictures were a nice touch as well.

Two years ago Nina disappeared without a trace. Her sister Ellie was left with her mum feeling very confused and devastated. Ellie has never given up hope that she would find her sister again and she only wishes that her mum had have taken the disappearance seriously from the start. Nina was the kind of girl who did whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted and she didn't care what other people thought of her. After two years of trying to find her again and constant disappointment Ellie finally get's a breakthrough. It all starts with a drawing and a phone number, which then leads to a security camera and the guy who dropped off the box with the first clue. That guy is a dud and Ellie doesn't get any info out of him, she does however meet Sean. Although Sean has no information for Ellie he helps her out with solving a clue and before they know it Sean and Ellie are on a road trip to find Nina, first stop Nebraska.

Cover Reveal - Breathless by Brigid Kemmerer

If you haven't read this series yet then I am urging you to go get started on it. From the first book in this series I was hooked and have picked up each of the other books as they have come out. My favourite brother in the series changes with each book that I read. Breathless will be the third novella in this series and is all about Nick. Breathless is due to be released in April 2013.

Hopeless by Colleen Hoover

I'm not going to wish for a perfect life. The things that knock you down in life are tests, forcing you to make a choice between giving in and remaining on the ground or wiping the dirt off and standing up even taller than you did before you were knocked down. I'm choosing to stand taller. I'll probably get kicked down a few more times before this life is through with me, but I can guarantee you I'll never stay on the ground. 

It has been bought to my attention that I must be one of the only people in the booking world that hasn't read a Colleen Hoover book yet. I figured I should probably stop people from harassing me and give one of her books a go, enter Hopeless. This book is everywhere at the moment and the hype surrounding it is unbelievable. I did enjoy this book and from the start I was hooked and totally in love with it. It did get a little repetitive at times though and I did find myself getting distracted easily especially around 60% in. I loved the interactions between Sky and Holder and I loved their mood swings and the way that they would piss each other off. Overall it was a really enjoyable book.

Sky is a very interesting character. She loves making out with guys but never goes any further then that so she has a reputation for being a slut but she isn't really one. Sky was adopted when she was younger but luckily her adoptive mum Karen is amazing and has always been there for her. She has even homeschooled Sky her entire life. This was all fine before but now Sky wants to try a semester at an actual school before she moves on to college. It was planned that Sky would start her first and last semester at school with her best friend since forever Six but those plans changed and now Sky is starting school for the first time and doing it on her own. Its not all bad though she makes friends with another new person on the first day, Breckin. Breckin is fantastic and Sky clicks him with instantly, he is also very gay and very, very funny. Its lucky for Sky that she has made a new friend because her reputation has followed her to the school and the other kids are letting her know all about it with whore jokes galore.

Sky is then at the shops one afternoon when she meets Holder. Everybody loves Holder and Sky can definitely see why. The only problem is that Holder is looking at Sky with so much contempt and Sky has no idea what she could have done to him for him to hate her so much, she doesn't even know him! Once outside Holder tries to introduce himself to Sky and then tries to hit on her. Sky is confused by him at first and then she just gets irritated with him and believes that he has a split personality disorder. From then on Holder is everywhere, jogging with Sky in the morning, around the hallways at school and right in Sky's thoughts always. Their attitudes towards each other change often and mostly because they both have wicked mood swings. It is a very strange friendship/relationship that starts to grow.

What I Didn't Say by Keary Taylor

Life can be pretty cruel sometimes. 

This is another one of those books that have been sitting on my kindle forever and I finally decided that I should read it. I think I should have read it sooner, my goodness, this book pulled at your heart from the start. I loved both Jake and Sam and found them to be quite refreshing, I could have read about them both for days. I can only imagine what it would have been like for both of them and I think that they both handled their very different situations well. This book wasn't what I was expecting at all it was so much more. I didn't realise that so much of the book would actually be about Sam but it was a good thing and I really enjoyed reading about the both of them.

Jake lives on Orcas Island, a small island with a population of roughly 5,000. He is your typical guy, he plays football, hangs out with his mates and crushes on girls, well actually he just crushes on one girl in particular, Sam. Sam is good looking and she is also very smart, to Jake she is the perfect package. The only problem is that Jake can never seem to get the courage to tell her how he feels. Homecoming night comes around and they are celebrating at a party afterwards. After a few drinks Jake decides that it is time to tell Sam how he really feels. Jake and his two closest friends get in the car drunk to go to Sam and that is when the car accident happens. The last thing Jake remembers before he blacks out is the car spinning, getting air and then the feel of metal meeting skin and blood.

Jake wakes up in the hospital four days later confused but surrounded by his family. He keeps trying to speak, to ask what is going on but every time he tries to talk no sound comes out he only feels pain. When the doctor comes in Jake is given the bad news, his vocal cords were severely damaged in the accident and had to be removed. Jake will never be able to speak again. Once released from hospital Jake has a small break and then it is back to school. He struggles at first but ends out getting by with the help from a special girl, Sam. As Jake and Sam get closer though it becomes obvious that Sam needs Jake just as much as Jake needs Sam.
